\Rancho Penasquitos is a master-planned community of the City of San Diego and is a quiet well-maintained suburban community built on high hills and mesas. It is located 20 miles north of downtown San Diego, west of Highway 15 and north of Mira Mesa. The community's full name Ranch de los Penasquitos is Spanish for land of the little hills or cliffs. The residents of the Rancho Penasquitos community also enjoy The Fiesta de los Penasquitos, a family oriented annual street faire. It has been an annual event since 1996 with approximately 10,000 people attending the Fiesta each year.
